The Skinny on eBooks

Though digital books are far from new, many readers have never experienced one and a lot myths exist about ePublishers. Here's a quick guide to eReading.

FAQs

Is special equipment required to read an e-book?
Nope. While e-reading hardware, such as Amazon's Kindle and the Sony Book Reader, is a nice luxury, nothing more special than a computer with Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view an e-book. Want a great e-reader without breaking the bank? Check out the model from eBook Technologies

Aren't eBooks poorer quality than print books?
No. Reputable e-publishers have high standards, submissions guidelines, cover artists, and copy editors, just like print publishers. E-books from these publishing houses are put through a strenuous selection and preparation process. Here are some I highly recommend:

Are eBooks available in different genres?
Yes! Mysteries, thrillers, horror, chick lit, romance, paranormal, erotica and general fiction. Ebooks are available for every taste. They even offer genres not available from most print houses: paranormal romance and sizzling hot erotica geared for a female audience. NY thought there was no market for stories like this...LOL. Since eBooks cost a lot less to produce than print books ePublishers are willing to take chances on a new style or genres so they're better able to adapt to demands of readers.

More benefits to eBooks
They're environmentally friendly. No trees are harmed in the making of a digital book.

You can carry your entire library in your purse or briefcase, literally thousands of titles.

If you lose your eReader or your computer crashes, you can download your library again from the publishers you originally purchased the books from.

They're easier on the pocketbook. Many titles cost less than $7. Even new releases.

You can purchase single short stories or novellas, book lengths that aren't usually offered by print publishers.
